Mansfield Town forward Rhys Oates has signed a one-year contract extension to remain at the One Call Stadium until the summer of 2027.

The 31-year-old's new deal comes less than 24 hours after he took his goal tally to seven for the season by scoring twice in Thursday's 3-0 win against Barnsley.

Oates, who joined the Stags in the summer of 2021 from Hartlepool, was into the final six months of his previous agreement with the club.

Despite spending much of the past two seasons out with knee injuries, the club triggered a 12-month extension to keep him with the Stags this term.

Mansfield boss Nigel Clough said Oates put in a lot of "hard work to come back" and once again be "firing on all cylinders".

"Rhys has shown the impact he can have on games this season and we're delighted that he'll be staying with us for at least another 18 months," Mansfeld boss Nigel Clough told the club website., external
