    There's so many tests he's had and I think he may win tonight, I really do.

    On being prolific on double 20: "Tops is not usually one I go for. I usually come inside for double 10, but tops gave me a treat tonight."

    Gian van Veen stormed into the semi-finals last night, beating 2024 world champion - and world number two - Luke Humphries 5-1.

    It is another big moment in an excellent year for the Dutchman, who won the European Championship in 2025, as well as the World Youth Championship.

    Victory meant he provisionally moved up to third in the world rankings, above compatriot Michael van Gerwen.
