Luke Littler has reached the final in his only two previous appearances at the PDC World Championship. He lost the 2024 final to Luke Humphries, then beat Michael van Gerwen to win the title last time around.

As defending champion and world number one, he is much-fancied to go all the way again.

If he is to lift the title for a second time on 3 January, here are some potential names he could face along the way:

    Third round: Mensur Suljovic

Fourth round: Damon Heta (16) or Rob Cross (17)

    Quarter-final: Wesley Plaisier

Semi-final: Stephen Bunting (4) or Jonny Clayton (5)

Final: Luke Humphries (2) or Michael van Gerwen (3)

If Davies were to win, it would probably be the greatest ever upset we have seen on that stage.

There’s just something special when Luke Littler is in town. It’s almost like when Phil Taylor arrived in his pomp.

Welshman David Davies combines his career as an NHS area manager with following his sporting dreams on the oche.

The 40-year-old, who delivered a straight-set win over Mario Vandenbogaerde on his PDC World Championship debut, needed to book some extra time off work for tonight's second-round match against defending champion Luke Littler.

"I've got minimal annual leave left - but I'm sure if I take unpaid leave the £25,000 will come in handy!" Davies said after his first-round victory.
