Strictly Leader Board: Week Five
What a fantastic Strictly live show that was! All our 12 couples hit the Ballroom in style and all delivered truly memorable performances!
As the dust settled, two couples were joint top of the leader board with a score of 35! Helen and Aljaž reached these dizzy heights first after their amazing Quickstep to ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’. Bruno was so taken with their performance that he predicted “the Helen and Aljaž Express is on the fast track to the top!”
Helen and Aljaž’s lonely life at the top didn’t last too long as Kellie and Kevin’s spy-themed Jive made no secret of the fact that they were going to score big! A 35 for Kellie and Kevin saw them reach the top of the leader board for the first time and mean that five different couples have occupied this coveted position over the last five weeks!

Jay and Aliona bounced back from their Week Four disappointment with a rocking Paso Doble to ‘It’s My Life’ by Bon Jovi. Whilst Anita and Gleb mesmerised everyone with their intricate and powerful Tango to Temper Trap’s ‘Sweet Disposition’.
Peter and Janette and Kirsty and Brendan both scored a very healthy 29, whilst Jamelia and Tristan’s Foxtrot to Celine Dion’s ‘Because You Loved Me’ received mixed reviews and left them with 26.
Carol and Pasha, Katie and Anton and Ainsley and Natalie all struggled in the eyes of the judges and were all awarded scores of 21. For Katie and Anton it was quite a slip from their leader board topping Week Four Waltz with Craig branding their Week Five effort “a dreadful dreadful Salsa”.

But it was Jeremy and Karen who were seen as having underperformed after their Waltz to Elvis Costello’s ‘She’. Bruno declared that Jeremy maintained a “zombiefied grin” throughout the dance and wrote off the rest saying, “it didn’t work”. Though both Darcey and Head Judge Len expressed admiration for Jeremy’s performance, Jeremy and Karen remain rock-bottom of the leader board with a score of 18.
Let us know which couple you think should be in the dreaded Dance-Off, and who you think should return to the Ballroom next week.
