And the sixth Strictly 2016 celebrity is… Louise Redknapp!

Former pop star and TV presenter Louise Redknapp is the sixth celebrity to shake her way into the sparkling new Strictly line-up. Louise was finally able to share her big Strictly secret during an interview on the Steve Wright in the Afternoon show on BBC Radio 2 today.

The singer turned presenter and businesswoman shot to fame at the age of 18 as part of the girl band Eternal. After three years, Louise went on to enjoy a successful solo career, notching up a string of Top 10 singles and albums.

Beyond music, Louise has also presented a variety of programmes, including Soccer Aid, The Truth About Size Zero and Something for the Weekend. 

As a long-standing Strictly fan, Louise can often be found watching every Saturday with her kids: “We have our Saturday night routine and all sit down to watch. When the show starts it really feels like the build up to Christmas!”

The prospect of taking part fills Louise with optimism brighter than the Strictly glitterball: “I’m looking forward to learning a new skill – ballroom and dancing with a partner is something I’ve never done before!”

When asked which dance she is most looking forward to, the Jive was top of Louise’s list. And while she thinks the judges are great, it’s her family she’s hoping to impress: “I would love to get as far as I can to do everyone proud and stay in long enough so my kids don’t think I’m rubbish!”
