Meet the seventh Strictly 2016 celebrity... Danny Mac!

He’s a Hollyoaks hunk, a West End leading man, and the seventh celebrity to join the Strictly 2016 line-up – it’s Danny Mac!

The 28-year-old has been a part of the Channel 4 soap since 2011, but the lure of the dance floor mean things will be getting a lot less Chester and a lot more Cha Cha Cha.

A background in theatre school and stage acting might, on paper, make Danny look like a dead cert for Strictly success. But as he explains, it’s still quite the departure: “I first danced at college when I was 18. That was the first time I’d ever worn a pair of tights or a dance belt!  I worked hard at it but it’s safe to say when I graduated all my dance gear went in a bag in the loft and hasn’t been seen since!”

And it’s not just the thought of taking to the floor that’s got Danny worried – he’s developed quite the case of judge-phobia: “I am terrified of them all! I get judged every day of my life as an actor so I am used to it, but I hate not being able to do something and they are going to be the ones to tell me – in front of millions! I do like a bit of tough love though so I will take it and deal with it… I hope.”

His character Dodger Savage had no trouble charming the women of Hollyoaks, so perhaps he can apply that same charm to the judges?
