We are looking to migrate the majority of all existing devices with BBC iPlayer to the new version. However, with BBC iPlayer now available on over 1,200 devices, this is a major task and will take a bit of time. Today, I am happy to announce the next wave of devices is ready to go.

It’s been over 18 months since we launched this version of BBC iPlayer and I am pleased that we have been able to work with Sky to make some significant improvements to BBC iPlayer on the Sky+ HD platform.

Testing BBC iPlayer on Chromecast

We developed our Chromecast capability in partnership with Google. They provided us with their software development kit for us to integrate Chromecast connectivity into our iPlayer apps. We were also given some design rules to define how the cast experience was to work in use.
