A man who died in a suspected hit-and-run incident on a village road was a "loving, caring" son and brother, his family has said.

Matthew Pring, 23, from Yarnton, Oxfordshire, was found seriously injured in the middle of the road outside The White House pub in Bladon shortly before 03:00 GMT on Saturday, police previously said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 65-year-old man from Stroud, Gloucestershire, who was arrested on Saturday afternoon on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop, has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Thames Valley Police said they were called to Grove Road after two drivers stopped to help Mr Pring.

In a statement issued by the force, the victim's family said: "It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating loss of our brother and son Matthew David Pring.

"Matthew means the world to us and we are grateful that we got to know the loving, caring, bright and courageous person Matthew became in his short 23 years.

"He was loved by all and it was amazing how quickly he could light up a room.

"As a family we don't know how to put into words what has happened or how we will overcome our tragic loss."

Previously, police appealed for witnesses or dashcam footage from the area between 02:30 and 03:00.
