A man has died after being found seriously injured in the middle of the road outside a pub in an Oxfordshire village following a suspected hit-and-run.

Thames Valley Police said the man, aged in his 20s, was found on Grove Road, in Bladon, outside The White House community pub at about 03:00 GMT. He died at the scene.

The force said two drivers, who were not thought to have been involved in the crash, stopped at the scene and called an ambulance.

The road remained closed on Saturday, both ways from Cassington Road to the A44 Woodstock Road/Bladon Roundabout.

Det Sgt Ollie Cahill-Smith said: "First and foremost, my thoughts are with the family of the man who has very tragically died in this incident.

"They will be offered support by specially trained family liaison officers at this extremely distressing time.

Witnesses and anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage was urged to contact the force.
