有一些女性在月经期间会出现下腹疼痛的症状,就是 “痛经”。在英语中,“have period pain” 或 “get period pain” 就可以用来描述 “痛经” 这一妇科症状。不论是与熟人谈及自己的症状还是向医生描述这类疼痛时,都可以使用这个说法。其中,名词 “period” 的意思是 “月经,经期”。
注意,“pain” 既可以作可数名词,也可以作不可数名词使用。但通常情况下 “pain” 是不可数的,前面不加不定冠词 “a”。这是因为当名词 “pain” 的前面有具体说明疼痛类型的词语时,“pain” 不可数。比如,在搭配 “have period pain” 当中,“pain” 的前面有用来表示疼痛类型的名词 “period” 月经,所以 “pain” 不可数,它的前面也就没有不定冠词 “a”。
再比如:I have a pain in my back. 我腰背疼。这里 “pain” 是可数的,因为它的前面没有用来表示疼痛具体部位的词语,而是用了 “a pain in + 疼痛部位的名称 my back” 的形式来表达 “有疼痛”。当然,这句话也可以变成:I have back pain. 我腰背疼。这里 “pain” 变成不可数名词,因为 “pain” 的前面有名词 “back”,指明了疼痛感的来源。
