My name is Khethiwe, I am 21 years old and live on Anglesey. I moved to the island not knowing a word of Welsh and struggling to confidently speak in English, even though I understood. I think it was the excitement being in a new place, and completely different looking country. I remember just smiling when other children would knock on the door to ask if my brother and I would like to come outside to play.

One of my favourite things about Anglesey is that it is a close community, just like back in Africa - when you walk down the street everybody says hello and starts a conversation.
The views here are fantastic too, especially by Llanfairpwllgwyngyll and Menai Bridge where you can see both the Britannia Bridge and the Menai Bridge. The Menai Straits is absolutely beautiful. I love to see it on the way into Gwynedd, but sometimes it’s really nice just to sit there and take in the fresh air.

I am really enjoying being Miss Anglesey and Gwynedd and all the opportunities that are coming with the title. From getting asked to take part in a documentary by the BBC, to charity fundraisers asking me to be a guest at their events, is absolutely awesome.
I’ve had so much support from the locals and would like to thank them by doing as much charity work as I can - and taking time to speak to others so they can tell me how I can best help them or the area.
From cake sales to fashion shows it will all be happening and I’m looking forward to bringing everyone together while raising money for charities.
