New BBC One documentary Rio And Kate: Becoming A Step Family

A new one-off BBC One documentary, Rio And Kate: Becoming A Step Family, will look at the Ferdinand family as Rio’s fiancée Kate Wright integrates into the family and becomes a step mum to Rio’s three children, Lorenz, Tate and Tia.

BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Hot For 2020 list revealed

BBC Radio 1Xtra has named 15 exciting acts for the station’s Hot For 2020 list. The list, compiled annually by 1Xtra and announced on The 1Xtra Breakfast Show with Dotty, predicts which artists are set for success over the next 12 months.

The BBC today unveiled further programming as part of a year-long pan-BBC season, Beethoven Unleashed, to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of one of the world’s most-loved composers.

Comedy

BBC Three has acquired the UK rights for the second series of Shrill from Warner Bros. Television. The second series will be available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer from Saturday 25 January.

Spandau Ballet global superstars Gary and Martin Kemp are to star in a new one-off spoof documentary, playing themselves recording a new album.

Drama

Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama and Charlotte Moore, BBC Director of Content have commissioned brand new thriller Vigil, a brand new six-part thriller from World Productions, the makers of Line Of Duty and Bodyguard.

Entertainment

Following a jam packed year of entertainment on the BBC, Kate Phillips, Controller of BBC Entertainment, announced two brand new BBC One programmes Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars and Oti’s South African Odyssey, alongside the return of BBC Two’s The Ranganation and BBC Three’s Angels Of The North.

Nadiya Hussain will be fronting two new cookery shows on BBC One and BBC Two.

World Service

In a partnership aimed at helping young people navigate digital media and spot 'fake news', BBC’s Young Reporter team has worked with the British Council to create a media literacy teaching resource for schools around the world.
