Another brilliant BAFTA awards ceremony for the BBC

The BAFTA Television Craft Awards were held at a ceremony in London last night (Sunday 26 April). If it feels like there are BAFTA ceremonies every month that’s because they’ve awards across lots of different categories – the Television Craft awards are billed as, “Celebrating the very best behind the scenes talent in British Television”.

We’re all smiles here at About the BBC because some of our favourite people and programmes took home prizes.  The director of BBC Two drama Marvellous Julian Farino was awarded the best director prize; Mackenzie Crook won Best Writer, Comedy for Detectorists and Sally Wainwright added another gong to her cabinet with Writer - Drama in 2015 for Happy Valley.

Sherlock continued it’s fine awards form with the Sound - Fiction award going to John Mooney, Douglas Sinclair, Howard Bargroff and Paul McFadden, and the Editing - Fiction for Yan Miles. Milk VFX, Real SFX and BBC Wales VFX were given the Special, Visual & Graphic Effects for Doctor Who.

BBC Sport also got an impressive look in with Mark Roalfe, Tomek Baginski, Ron Chakraborty chosen for the Titles in 2015 award for their work on the Winter Olympics 2014.

Elsewhere Hilary Briegel, who has: “enjoyed a 32-year career as a vision mixer at the BBC, editing programmes live for transmission,” took home the Special Award 2015. Watch this blog for a full profile of her coming soon.
