Weekend weather difficult to predict

Predicting the weather is not always easy and this weekend is not straight forward by any means, especially on Sunday. It looks like there is more rain on the way but we should see some dry, bright weather as well. Fingers crossed it will improve on Sunday though with slightly lower temperatures.

Now we've all seen some rain today; some heavy rain too and it has been chilly. It’s only been 8 Celsius in Wrexham though it has been milder in Pembrokeshire, with temperatures reaching 12C in Milford Haven.

This evening the rain will clear northwards but more rain will spread from the west overnight with low cloud, mist and hill fog. Later in the night it should turn drier but there will still be spots of light rain or drizzle. The wind will ease overnight with lowest temperatures ranging between 6 degrees and a mild 11 degrees Celsius.

Tomorrow will be better compared to today. There will be some dry weather and sunshine but it will not be completely dry with a few showers and a little rain in places. Temperatures will be on the mild side at 12 or 13 degrees Celsius with light winds.

So if you're Cardiff-bound for the rugby, it will be drier than today but I wouldn't rule out showers and it may turn damp in the evening.  Also with the All Blacks in town it could turn stormy on the pitch!

Tomorrow night it looks likely that rain will spread across most of Wales. This will be heaviest in the south-east, though with parts of the north and west staying dry.

Sunday's chart shows two cold fronts over England but these fronts and the rain could possibly be further west affecting us here in Wales.

So on Sunday I would expect to see rain in the south, with the east gradually becoming clearer. The whole country should then become dry and gradually brighter. The best of the sunshine is likely in the west and the northwest. However temperatures on Sunday will be a cooler 8 to 10 degrees Celsius with light winds.

Sunday night will be dry, clear and cold with a slight frost and one or two fog patches. So you may need to scrape your car windscreen on Monday morning. Monday should be fine and dry but more rain is expected on Tuesday. No sign yet of any snow on the horizon.
