BBC Radio 1: Willie J Healey - People And Their Dogs
Willie J Healey - People And Their Dogs is now on the Radio 1 playlist! We love this red-haired rocker so much, that we simply had to make him our BBC Music Introducing artist of the week, (especially after his amazing surprise set on our stage at Reading Festival...) You can hear him being played across the station on Clara, Dev, Scott, Greg and Adele for the next seven days!
Supported by: Dave and the gang at BBC Music Introducing in Oxford.
Style: Pop-inflected rock and roll.
Essential: Willie J Healey is a 22-year-old musician from Oxford, who first sent in music to BBC Music Introducing in 2015. He is inspired by Bruce Springsteen and says that he has an addiction to writing songs, which is great for us, as he has just released his debut album named after the lead single, ‘People and Their Dogs’. In 2015 Willie was invited to play on the Introducing stage at Reading, and this year he returned to perform a secret gig which went down a treat! If you love what you're hearing, you can catch Willie this autumn on tour with Introducing alumni, Sundara Karma and The Magic Gang.
BBC 1Xtra: Jorrel - Acterz (feat Nikolai)
Jorrel’s track - Acterz is our BBC Music Introducing track of the week! The single features Nikolai and will captivate you with its countless hooks and big beat. You can find it on 1Xtra’s playlist and being played on A.Dot, Yasmin, Twin B, Mim Shaikh and Nick Bright.
Supported by: The legend Linda from BBC Music Introducing in Berkshire.
Style: A rolling grime groove.
Essential: Jorrel is a singer, lyricist and producer from Berkshire who first uploaded to Introducing in 2015. He draws influences from Eminem and Skepta, and his strong, story-telling abilities make his music all the more powerful. Jorrel produced his single Acterz which features a verse from Nikolai and is out now!
