CBeebies new presenter: Meet Ben Cajee

Catherine

Producer, CBeebies Grown-ups

There’s a new face in the CBeebies House. It’s Ben Cajee and Grown-ups has the low down on him.

What do you like to do?

I love playing and watching sport! I’ve always supported West Ham and know that we’ll definitely win the FA Cup at some point in my lifetime…

What were you doing before?

Before starting with CBeebies I worked for the International Cricket Council at Lord’s, trying to get more people participating in the sport throughout Europe. I’m a big cricket fan and batting is one of my favourite things so it was brilliant to work at ‘The Home of Cricket’!

Who are your heroes?

Ha! If you asked any of my friends then they’d tell you that I’ve got a pretty big soft spot for Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters and Denzel Washington.

What’s your favourite TV show?

The West Wing! I’m trying to be more like Jed Bartlet.

Where did you study?

I went to school in Devon and then studied Journalism, Media & Cultural Criticism at Cardiff University. I had the BEST time. I made so many great friends, enjoyed my course and loved the city so much that I stayed there for a couple of years afterwards!

Do you have a favourite CBeebies show?

I’ve got a lot of time for Rastamouse. What a hero!

What’s your favourite food?

Ah, I eat most things but reckon that Thai is my favourite and am always keen on a tuna steak.

If you could fly out on holiday, where would you go?

I’ve been to America 8 times but always to the East Coast so I’d love to head out West to San Francisco. I’d really like to visit Cape Town and Mauritius.  Not that I’m asking for much but I’d like to visit the places where my grandparents were born and lived.

Do you have any children?

I don’t, but I do have a little sister… who’s now 25! I love being around children though so spending time with my friends and family’s kids is always so much fun! I used to work with young people as a Teaching Assistant and spent 6 weeks working on voluntary projects in Kenya one summer, which was amazing.

Have you ever been starstruck?

I had a chat with Paul McCartney during the Olympics which was pretty cool. I told him how I used to listen to ‘Band on the Run’ all the time when I was little! He was so nice and even asked me what I’d been up to that day!

What’s your dream day off?

I’m always up for something active! Go-karting, paintballing, some 5-a-side, a BBQ, a walk along the coast. I’d be all over a spa day too though… so I’m pretty easy to keep entertained.

Can you tell us a secret about yourself?

Whisper it, but I get pretty grumpy when I’m hungry.

Blog comments will be available here in future. Find out more.
