Scott says: "When has it not been controversial?
"In the first season they had somebody die by taking their own life, and they showed it in a very explicit nature, which I still think would not have been allowed on normal broadcast television.
"And then in Season 2 they showed a very intense scene of sexual assault.
"I think the reason for this is to show the impact that bullying has on young people within schools, and the responsibility that individuals have.
"But the thing that really touches a nerve with me, is the fact that they go down the very exploitative route of showing it. I think so many other shows manage to do it better, in terms of showing the impact without showing its graphic nature.
"There are many medical and mental health professionals who I’ve been speaking to over the last two years about this, who have been advocating that you can talk about these issues, but you don’t have to show it. You don’t have to show it as some sort of 'peak drama reality twist'. It just feels incredibly exploitative.
"If you want to have a show that helps you, go elsewhere."
