A moped rider and passenger are in hospital after a crash during a police chase.

The collision occurred at the double mini-roundabout junction of Overndale Road and Frenchay Road in Downend, Bristol, at 12:43 GMT on New Year's Day.

Officers had pursued the moped for about five minutes before the crash. It is not believed either person sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision, police added.

A stretch of Frenchay Road remains closed between Grange Drive and Overndale Road. Avon and Somerset Police has notified its professional standards department of the incident.
