Five years ago, the local music scene was well served by plaid shirts and Western heels, popper stud denim and the elegant twang of a Fender Telecaster. Active bands included The Delawares, Jackson Cage, Captain Kennedy and Ten Gallon Hat & The Big Salute. The latter included Kris Telford and his was very much part of that simpatico gang. He was a graphic designer and a photographer, but he plainly had a weakness for the whispering pines and the hickory wind. Now he has returned with a new act, Our Native Devils, and a tune on Bandcamp called ‘She’s My Devil’. His muse has a menacing tattoo and a penchant for hard liquor. His soul is fried and the six gun is parked with intent. I wouldn’t mess with her.
