Essential: FREAK, aka Connar Ridd, is from Chelmsford and has been uploading to BBC Music Introducing in Essex since February 2016. He takes influence from Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Jimi Hendrix and you might recognise him from his performance on the Introducing stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend this year. He has also recently toured with Black Honey and Sundara Karma as well as Reading + Leeds and Kendal Calling festivals.

Essential: C Cane is a rapper and multi-instrumentalist from London. She has already received 1Xtra support from #GimmeGrime sessions and Toddla T, who had her on his show earlier this year. When Cane's not making music, she presents her own weekly radio show on Reprezent and has appeared on BBC Three in a documentary alongside Idris Elba! She's making bold moves on the scene and is definitely one to watch.
