This week Charlene Hegarty joined Rigsy and Stu to talk new music including:

Villagers – Memoir

Charlene:
“It’s a beautiful track – it features on their new album – which is a live album and he originally wrote this song for Charlotte Gainsbourg, and he’s taken it back and put his own beautiful sentiment on it.”

Sea Pinks - Depth Of Field

Charlene: “I’m a big fan of Sea Pinks – they just do summer-pop meets garage-rock really really well, and this track provides an insight into what we can look forward to in their sixth album…they’re releasing it on their own record label CF Records.”

3D Shark - She’s Going To A Party

Stu: “From the EP ‘I’m Bionic’… 3D Shark…slightly reminiscent of ‘Half Man Half Biscuit’ slightly sardonic, sort of dark satirical, but are still actually very good as well.”

Rosie Carney - Where Do You Go?

Charlene: “She’s an exceptional talent and she’s the first one that I’m aware of to be confirmed for SXSW 2016 from Ireland…I do believe Rosie’s got a really bright future…and it’s massively exciting for her to get out to The States and play.”

We Like The Echo - No Money

Rigsy: “Paddy, Charlie, Joe, Matt and Carl…this band are from Ballycastle…I love a song driven by a simple riff, strong vocals help – really strong production as well courtesy of…Michael Mormecha.”

This Other Kingdom - He Controls The Sea

Charlene: “This track comes from a Dublin based four piece band…they’ve just inked a deal with Kinotone Records in the UK. They’re in the studio recording their second album, but this track’s just been released as the final release from their debut. And it’s a healthy mix of Primary Colours era - The Horrors meets Turn On The Bright Lights era Interpol. I’m really excited for album number two.”

Chrisy McCullagh - As My Smile Echoes

Rigsy: “He’s from Newtownards…he’s combining folk and world music…comparisons to Jeff Buckley as well and there’s a certain kind of delicacy and scratchiness to this that I like.”
